2009 Review

Hey, kids!  Remember when people used to be on MySpace and they used to write stuff?  Yeah, me neither.  But here's my year-end list for 2009 anyway.

1) DRINKING BUDDY OF THE YEAR
Though neither of us drink, Gerry wins in a landslide.

2) LIFETIME SERVICE AWARD (longest known friend) -
Wayne. Whatever happened to that guy?

3) NEWCOMER AWARD - COOLEST NEWEST FRIEND?
After much calculation, which we all know makes my brain hurt, I've recalled that I met Jan and Adam in January of this year.  So yay!

4) HIGH POINT OF THE YEAR?
[insert dirty thoughts here].  Getting promoted was very nice.

5) LOW POINT OF THE YEAR?
Most of you can probably already figure this out.  Breaking up is hard to do, as the saying goes.

6) BEST HOLIDAY?
Halloween was a pretty fun day.  And Jack Bauer always wins.

7) YOUR SONG FOR 2009?
I want to start off by saying that I blew this answer last year (and I apparently forgot to change the year in the question).  "Sex On Fire" by Kings of Leon was the best song of 2008.  For 2009, I can't quite pin down a best song.  I love the new Green Day album, 21st Century Breakdown and Pearl Jam's Backspacer.  "Amongst The Waves," is probably my favorite track off of the latter.  Let's go with that.

8) MOVIE FOR 2009?
I can't say that I've seen a ton of movies this year, at least not in the theater.  I really haven't seen but one since July.  Take a guess as to why that is.  I think that Watchmen was amazing so that's my choice.

9) WHO DID YOU SPEND VALENTINES WITH?
Again, you can take a guess.  It was nice and it is no more.

10) WHAT WERE YOU FOR HALLOWEEN?
I was going to recycle last year's costume but as I was getting dressed, I put on a black long-sleeve and dark jeans and I looked up at my Jack Bauer figure and saw that he was wearing the same thing.  So I got a crazy idea, rushed to Supply Sergeant (the best surplus store in Burbank!), and voila: Jack Bauer power.

11) RESTAURANT OF THE YEAR.
I've gotta be honest.  I'm drawing a blank on some of these questions because I'm rushing to get this out.  Plus, I just woke up.  I don't think I went anywhere funky this year and that kind of figures considering how things turned out.

12) KISS OF THE YEAR?
There were some good ones.  But at this point, asking me to pick one would be like asking a Holocaust survivor to remember his favorite guard at the death camp.

13) BEST DECISION MADE THIS YEAR?
Going for my promotion was a solid call but I think moving out on my own was the best call I made this year.  Sure it's a bit lonely but I'm generally much happier.

14) WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR?
Like I told my mom as I was leaving after Christmas, I only need to get 2 things this year and they both rhyme.  The first is paid.  Try to figure out the second on your own.

15) MOST STUPID IDEA WHEN DRUNK?
Talking.  It should be noted that this wasn't me.

16) TV SHOW OF THE YEAR?
24 was solid this year as was the Daily Show. But The Office was by far the best, 2 years running.  Yay Jim and Pam!

17) MOST LOYAL FRIEND?
Gerry gets this one too.  I feel like this and question 1 are a bit repetitive.

18) BIGGEST DOUCHEBAG?
Glenn Beck is head and shoulders above other douchebags.  The Jonas Brothers still suck.  Sean Hannity, Mark Sanford, Mark Ensign, The Republican Party, Jon (minus 9), Tiger Woods (y'all), Ryan Seacrest, Lance Burton, David Caruso, Dick Cheney, and of course, George W. Bush.  Oh, and let us not forget the New York Yankees.

19) BIGGEST WHOREBAG?
Sarah Palin, Michelle Malkin, Anne Coulter, Michelle Bachman, Kathy Lee Gifford, and she who shall remain nameless.  Sorry, that's the breaks.  And I'm not sorry.

20) NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION?
Be better, do better, and get everything I deserve.
